Frequently Asked Questions

About Permanent Cosmetics

Who can benefit from permanent make up?

People who have an active lifestyle, contacts, a type of visual impairment, allergies, alopecia (absence of hair, eg: eye brows), light colored or thin eyelashes, inability to apply make up easily and scars.

How long does permanent make up last?

Permanent cosmetics are considered permanent because the color is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. As with any tattoo, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance. The tones are more natural, and not tattoo like in color range, the likelihood of fading is a possibility.

What are all of my options if I am looking at permanent cosmetics?

Will it hurt?

Comfort and safety are of utmost importance. There are several topical anesthetics used to help alleviate any discomfort. Most clients are comfortable throughout the entire procedure.

After the procedure, you may feel a little soreness around the area that the procedure occurred. This can last a few hours to a few days depending on the area treated. A cold compress is usually adequate in reducing and swelling and discomfort.

I want to explore the options, where do I start?

Call 1-760-943-7546 for your complimentary consultation today! We would like to meet you and talk with you about your permanent make up options.

How safe is this?

Safety is one of our highest priorities. There have been rare cases of allergic reactions to the pigment. Patch testing is performed in advance to determine if your skin could be sensitive to the procedure.

About Microdermabrasion

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin procedure used to improve and remove blackheads and whiteheads, fine wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, acne-prone skin, and superficial age spots. All skin types can be treated. Clients notice improvement in the texture and appearance of the skin , so that makeup can be applied more evenly.

How long is the procedure and is it painful?

Microdermabrasion takes approximately 45 minutes. Since it is non-invasive and non-surgical, there is no recuperative period. Makeup can be applied directly after the procedure. Clients experience little pain or discomfort and no downtime.

Are there any risks?

Risks are very minimal. The most common side effect is redness of the skin which usually disappears within a few hours.

How often does the procedure need to be performed?

The average client requires eight treatments spaced 1 -2 weeks apart to see the best results. However, it appears that because clients do see continuing results, many choose to have the procedure performed monthly as a maintenance treatment.

About Chemical Peels

What are chemical peels?

Chemical Peels are performed to treat facial discoloration such as brown, mottled or muddy pigment - usually from the sun or the combination of sun and hormone treatment. They also help tighten the facial pores and smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels can also improve whiteheads and blackheads that are seen with acne. There are different types of chemical peels. We usually think of them as superficial or light chemical peels versus medium depth chemical peels or deep chemical peels.

What will I look like after the peel?

The response to these treatments can vary depending on the clients skin type and depending on how many peels the client has had. Most will just have some mild redness of their skin right after the peel that will look like they have a mild sunburn. If desired, women are able to put on moisturizer and makeup directly after the treatment and can return to work and resume their regular activities. Over the next several days, there may be a fine peeling or scaling of the skin, very rarely some crusting or scab formation may form and often times there is actually no visible exfoliation. However, even without visible peeling or irritation, most patients will notice that their skin feels softer and smoother and will see fading of areas of discoloration.

How many treatments are necessary?

Depending on the reason the client is having the chemical peels; most clients require a minimum of 6 treatments to see results from these light chemical peels. These treatments are separated by about 2 to 4 weeks. For tougher problems such as dark brown blotches or melasma, it may take up to 12 treatments to get the best results. It is not uncommon for clients to continue with light peels with their monthly facial.

Who is a good candidate for light chemical peel?

Almost any client and any type of skin is a good candidate for this type of peel, which has very few risks or problems associated with it.

What are the side effects from this peel?

There are very few side effects associated with this peel. It may sting or tingle when the acid is on the face but it doesn't really hurt. Light peels leave the skin with a warm, rosy glow. Perfect prior to a big event.

What is a moderate depth chemical peel?

If the patient does not want to come in multiple times for the light chemical peels and is able to take some time off from work or social activities, they may prefer a stronger chemical peel. At Advanced Clinical Aesthetics, we perform a moderate depth chemical peel that is known as a Jessner's chemical peel or a TCA peel.

What will my face look like after a moderate depth chemical peel?

After a moderate depth chemical peel, the skin will turn very red, and there may also be some swelling. In fact it is not uncommon for the eyelids to swell, but this usually doesn't occur until the following day. After the second or third day the skin starts to peel off in fairly large sheets. The peeling lasts for about 3 days and the whole process is usually over after 1 to 2 weeks. Therefore, the patient will need to plan on a one to two week recovery period. At the end of one or two weeks, the face may look pink but there is usually new skin present and makeup can often be worn at this time. Makeup cannot be worn during the peeling process.

How does one care for the skin during this time?

An ointment such as Vaseline is used on the skin to keep the skin lubricated and only very mild cleansers are also recommended. It is then important after the first week to begin sunscreens and to avoid the sun.

Does this chemical peel hurt?

There is burning and stinging that is associated with these peels but it only lasts for a few minutes.

Are there any risks with this peel?

The risks are minimal. They can be associated with hyperpigmentation, or brownish discoloration, particularly if the patient gets into the sun too soon after the chemical peel has been performed.

How long do the results of the chemical peel last?

The answer to this question varies depending on how well the patient takes care of their skin after the chemical peel. We recommend that a daily sunscreen be used after any level of chemical peel and that glycolic acid products be used on a daily basis to maintain the improvement that is achieved with the chemical peel process.

How much does it cost?

The light chemical peels are $85-120 depending on the strength. The mid-depth chemical peel is $140 - $400.

About Bio-Ultimate Face Lift
(Microcurrent Treatment)

How does the system work?

The body's ability to maintain skin tone and elasticity is controlled by chemical reactions within and between the cells of your skin. These reactions are triggered by electrical impulses. As the body ages, these reactions slow down and the skin loses elasticity and suppleness.

The Bio-Ultimate system aids in reducing the signs of aging by utilizing a technology known as microcurrent. Microcurrent is a low level of electricity that mirrors the body's own natural electrical impulses. When used in conjunction with specialized products and manual manipulations, these tiny microcurrent impulses stimulate your body's currents, which result in visible firming and smoothing of the skin. Skin is re-hydrated, circulation is improved, and a revitalized appearance is achieved after the first treatment.

About Microcurrent Facelift

What is a microcurrent facelift?

A microcurrent facelift is a non-surgical, non-invasive cosmetic technique that safely and effectively improves the health and appearance of the skin. A microcurrent facelift is also called a Bio-ultimate facelift. A microcurrent facelift uses technologies developed in the medical and physiotherapy fields to activate the skin’s natural chemicals responsible for health and vitality.
A microcurrent facelift provides satisfying aesthetic results with less risk of side effects compared to a traditional facelift. The microcurrent facelift procedure is proven safe and effective, delivering results at a fraction of the cost of traditional procedures.

What are other benefits?

A microcurrent facelift delivers a variety of benefits to patients who wish to attain a healthier and younger looking appearance. A microcurrent facelift can be performed to achieve the following benefits: improve muscle tone in face and neck, lift jowls and eyebrows, reduce and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improve facial circulation, skin exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, sun damage treatment, skin pigment improvement, product penetration, and much more.

How does it work?

A microcurrent facelift utilizes microcurrent technology which uses gentle electrical stimulation to trigger the body’s natural skin enhancement chemicals at a cellular level. Clinical studies have shown that after twenty days of treatment collagen production increases by 14 percent, elastin increases by 48 percent, and blood circulation increases by 38 percent. Scientists have also found that microcurrent facelift treatments trigger the body’s production of amino acids and ATP. Both of these accelerate cell repair and promote healthier cell production.

Who is the best candidate for a microcurrent facelift?

The best candidate for a microcurrent facelift is any patient who wishes to maintain or gain a youthful appearance. Younger clients can seek a microcurrent facelift to prevent some of the aesthetic effects of aging. Older clients can be rejuvenated by having a microcurrent facelift. Men and women, who are interested in having a microcurrent facelift, should speak to their cosmetic surgery specialist about what to expect before, during, and after the treatment. This information will help you develop realistic expectations about your microcurrent facelift so that you may enjoy the results of this procedure’s many benefits.

How long does the procedure and recovery last?

The microcurrent facelift procedure itself takes approximately one hour to complete and is virtually painless. A microcurrent facelift specialist will use a two pronged cotton tipped instrument to gently deliver electrical stimulation to the muscles and tissues of the face and/or neck. The microcurrent facelift procedure requires no anesthesia, no recovery time, no down time from work, and has no irritating side effects. To achieve the ultimate benefits of a microcurrent facelift, approximately twelve treatment sessions are recommended. Routine follow up treatments are performed to maintain microcurrent facelift results.

About Arasys

What is Arasys?

If someone told you that one relaxing treatment could give your body the equivalent workout of 300 sit-ups, you'd probably want to know about it pronto, right? Well, behold the Arasys inch-loss system, a highly effective and relatively stress-free treatment devised by pacemaker co-inventor Gerry Pollock.

Unlike other purported muscle stimulator machines, the Arasys machine doesn't use a direct electrical current to force unnatural motion in the muscles. Instead, the treatment targets the nerve endings around the muscles themselves, using pure, smooth topped faradic waveforms to keep the process stable and comfortable for the patient. These waveforms connect with your brain's own bio-electric signal, causing your body to mimic the sort of clean contractions usually brought on by physical exertion. The advantage with Arasys is that your muscles don't become overstressed as they do during real exercise, thus burning fat cells without cutting your glucose levels. The end result is a weight loss technique that works without leaving your body fatigued or sore.

The typical Arasys treatment takes 17 minutes and can simultaneously improve your metabolism, skin elasticity, oxygenation, circulation, and overall physical stamina. It can also trim 2-6 inches off your waistline and help ease muscle pain and atrophy.

The Arasys inch-loss system is utilized for a number of other medical purposes, as well, helping to tighten skin after a pregnancy or surgical operation. The treatment itself is non-invasive and proven safe, with no known side effects or inherent risks. Arasys is also a cellulite reduction method. As Arasys increases your metabolism fat is burned away from unhealthy fat pockets (also know as cellulite).

During an Arasys session, moist sponges are applied to the weight loss target areas of the body. A trained professional uses these pads to carry the Arasys 1000 frequency waveform safely and with perfect precision. The patient will feel the subtle vibrations of the wave as their muscles contract smoothly, but this is rarely painful, and some patients even find the experience relaxing. Making an Arasys all the more rewarding. Results will be noticeable almost immediately.

How long does this procedure take?

Arasys can take up to 30 minutes to perform, depending on the size of the area.

What are the side-effects?

Arasys inch-loss system has no side effects.

How soon will I see results?

Arasys requires multiple sessions to see improvements, usually up to 8. During your consultation, your Arasys specialist will give you an exact idea of how many treatments you will require to achieve your desired results.

What is the recovery time?

There is no recovery time necessary with the Arasys inch loss system.

What other treatments can Arasys be combined with?

Arasys can be combined with liposuction.

"After almost 30 years of plucking, my eyebrows were in sad shape when I went to see Jennifer Waring at Advanced Clinical Aesthetics. I had hoped that tattooing them might make them a bit better. I was absolutely amazed at the results I got.

Not only did she tattoo my eyebrows in a way that looked natural and fit the structure of my face, but by using a product she endorsed I was able to grow back hair in sections of my eyebrow that I thought was gone for ever. I ended up with an outcome that far exceeded my expectations.

Jennifer also recommended skin care treatments and products that have evened out my skin tones, firmed up my skin and cleared up problem acne areas. Treatments at Advanced Clinical Aesthetics is now a part of my regular skin care routine."
